Critter Barn

We took a field trip to the Critter Barn in Holland Michigan with another family in our homeschool fellowship group.

April 22, 2010
Feeding the "teenage" cows.
Getting ready to give milk to the calves.
Feeding the calves.
A Tom turkey, they let them out to walk in our circle.
Petting their horse.
Letting the sheep from the barn to pasture.  They have coverings because it keeps their wool clean, they have a very high quality wool they sell.
The sheep keep the weeping willow
Baby bunnies.
They got to go in and pick up bunnies.
Holding baby chicks.
Petting the rabbits.
Cale next to an angora rabbit!  That is the funniest bunny we've ever seen!  So soft though!
Sadie on the pig bench.
Miss Mary told us a neat story about one of her lambs.  A mom deserted one of its lambs and because Mary feeds it all the time, it actually follows her around instead of its mother.  Mary has become her "mother."  Most sheep don't come to people, they are "dumb" but this sheep will.  It knows its shepherd.  Mary, the shepherd, helps and feeds all the sheep, but they don't all know it, they are dumb.  Jesus said, we are all like sheep and have gone astray.  We need to realize who are shepherd is, who our provider is, who we should follow - Jesus.  And when we do, we can enjoy a wonderful special relationship, like this sheep does with Miss Mary.
Feeding the goats.
We had such a great time, if you are in the area I recommend going!  It was more than hands on, it was great!
