We went to Calvin College and saw a free chemistry demonstration. It was pretty cool. We got there early enough to get on the front row.
Using liquid nitrogen to put out flames.
He's dissolving a penny in acid. The orange is the gas that then goes through the next 2 beakers which test whether the gas is base or acid.
I forgot what the pink meant.....acid maybe. :-)
The blue is the now dissolved penny. All gone as we previously saw it!
Then the guys filled soap bubbles with methane gas and...
lit it! Over and over, they'd go in the audience and light the bubbles. It was pretty cool and I actually caught it on camera!
A nice field trip for the boys. Yeah!
