Family Snow Day at Camp Calvary

February 21, 2009

We love our church!  They are very community-building minded.  The boys both had their respective snow camps with their age groups that Mark went too, but there was also a whole family day.  I was getting a bit nervous after Mark told me how much fun they all had tubing and then we had a warm spell a couple of weeks before the family day!  If the lake isn't frozen over, then there's no tubing!  But, fortunately, it takes more than a few days of warm to melt a whole lake!  :-)

Here's the view from the top of the tubing hill.

There's Mark and the girls and Cale after their run.  The unfortunate thing is that you have to carry the tubes back up the hill.

Malachi ready for another run.

Out in the middle of the lake.

Sadie girl!  Although, by this time of the winter, she's done being cold.  She only went down one run I think and was ready to go in.  Especially since there's such a climb to get back up.

Mark took her to play for a little bit and then hang out in the lodge.

Cosette played too.

After lunch, the camp director cleared off the ice a few times (it snowed solid all day long!) and we skated and some played hockey.  We don't have ice skates, but there were some in a box of older donated skates that we tried.  I put some on and found that it is very different to skate on lake ice than a manicured ice rink!  Those skates didn't fit well either, so then I opted just to slide on my shoes.

Malachi found some skates to wear and did pretty good.

Cale didn't find skates to fit, but finally just went out to slide in his boots and had fun. Cosette had another little girl loan her some skates after she was done and she just took to it like she'd been skating all her life!

We had a really fun time getting to know some more families better and taking advantage of the Michigan weather!  God has really blessed us to be a part of this body of Believers.
