as of October 26th, after our visit to KS for a week, our cat is gone. :-( We looked and looked, but he was so friendly and social, he must have found someone else after missing us too badly! The kids were bummed, but it also has helped remind us of how God lets things happen in your life for a reason; we feel that this one is to remind us to pray for our friends who have lost loved ones this past year. While a cat can't even compare to a human in our hearts, our slight sadness can at least remind us of our friends and the grief they feel.
So if you want the rest of the story (the story is still cute)- read on!
No, not a baby...but a cat!
We think someone must have dropped of a cat "in the country" near our place. We got back from camping over Labor Day weekend and sat down to find out where the hurricane hit that was happening that weekend. There's lots of wild cats around, so it isn't unusual to have a nose against the sliding glass door looking in, but when we open the door they run off. This time, he came right on it! Not only that, he was purring loudly the moment his feet hit the carpet floor. We decided to name him Gustav after the hurricane that was going on at the time.

The kids woke up and found the kitty still hanging out on the porch, so we went to the store to get food and he's ours now. He loves to be held and believe it or not, seems to like being carried around like a baby by both the girls. He's been the perfect cat for our family - Mark even likes him! :-) (He thinks he's a dog stuck in a cat body. Whatever!)

The kids were so cute
1.) thanking God for giving us a kitty and
2.) saying his name - Gustav (especially Sadie because it comes out "goostop")
Oh, by the way, Sadie is eating "quirled" apples - Cosette's term for "curled", i.e. peeled, cored and sliced with the apple corer, so it is a big corkscrew. These were apples from our own tree! Very tasty! We got about a bushel from it!
