May Days 2008

Here's my beautiful view out our front window in the morning.  I love sitting here...drinking my cup of chai, waving to Mark as he leaves for work.  Directly out the front door, to the right, we have a hummingbird feeder.  It is so amazing to see these wonderfully CREATED birds!  God is so awesome!  Mark was patient and actually got some pictures of a couple of them!

Yes, all you Kansas people laugh, but May 19th (!)  I had to cover over my apple tree, with 16 sheets, and over my strawberry patch, and my newly planted garden because there was a frost warning!   Come to find out, where in KS the last frost date is April 15th, people around here don't plant until Memorial Weekend!  And even then, this year we had another frost warning night just after that!  (I decided though to just cover my ground plants.  It seems that the woods around us keep the warm in a little more that the other areas might.)

I wanted to show you the view of the house now that the trees have filled in.  Quite a shady area, eh?  This is around 9:00 a.m. light.

I took this one around noon, to show you the shade we have, even at "high noon."

Here's the view to the north, standing at our driveway...

and to the south, toward the dead end.
